Wheel of Time’s Taylor Napier embraces sex symbol title with thirst-inducing Speedo photoshoot

Taylor Napier has embraced the “flattering” title of ‘sex symbol’ after his latest photoshoot saw him strip down to his Speedos.

The actor, who is queer, starred in the popular Prime Video series, The Wheel of Time, which was sadly cancelled earlier this year following the release of the third season.

In the show, Taylor played Maksim, a human warder and protector of Alanna (Priyanka Bose), one of the Aes Sedai, an order of women who can channel an energy called ‘The One Power’. Maksim and Alanna are joined in a polyamorous bisexual relationship by another human warder, Ihvon (Emmanuel Imani/Anthony Kaye).

In a new photoshoot with photographer Ramon Christian, Napier enjoys a day the beach while showing off his impressive and toned physique in nothing but some skimpy Speedos.

Speaking to Out about the shoot Napier accepted the title of ‘sex symbol,’ describing it as “flattering.” He said of the photoshoot, “I loved it. I obviously go to the gym a lot. I work out a lot, and I don’t do that to put a baggy sweater over my body.

“So, it is nice to be able to show off the hard work and be able to celebrate everything I put into being healthy, but also, honestly, a little bit of my vanity.”

The actor, recently announced as part of The Faithful cast, also shared his thoughts on using social media as a promotional tool

“It’s a weird kind of cross-section of this version of yourself that you have to put out there. And you have to sell your brand, in a weird way,” he said. “And you have to kind of decide what your brand is. For some people, that is sexy photos, it’s cooking, or relatability.”

Napier went on to say, “It is this one side of yourself that you’re trying to promote, that you’re trying to sell yourself as, and it is a bit tricky because it does feel like it underplays the art of what I’ve done, you know, on the show, and what all actors do but at the same time it helps promote you.”

Speaking to PinkNews in March, Napier touched on The Wheel of Time‘s unapologetic portrayal of queer relationships. Rosamund Pike’s Moiraine Damodred, and newly-confirmed couple Aviendha (Ayoola Smart) and Elayn (Ceara Coveney) are also queer.

Napier said, “For our fans, it’s been important because they saw those threads while they were reading it. It’s not necessarily something that everyone saw. So, to have that acknowledged has been really meaningful for them.”

The Wheel of Time is streaming now.
