A New York City (NYC) Chappell Roan lookalike contest crowned a deserving winner over the weekend.
The “Good Luck, Babe!” hitmaker is well known for her striking looks, defined by a camp, flamboyant aesthetic inspired by cabaret, drag, and theatre.
On Saturday (20 September), RiseNY’s Chappell Roan lookalike contest took over Times Square. RiseNY is an immersive museum and flying theatre attraction.
The event also marked the addition of a dress worn by Chappell Roan on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to the museum’s fashion collection. Her dress joins iconic pieces worn by Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
Hosted by Marti Gould Cummings, the contest invited fans to showcase their best Chappell-inspired looks while belting out her hits, karaoke-style.
RiseNY posted a TikTok, captioned “so many divas in one place,” showcasing fans’ takes on Roan’s iconic looks, from construction worker gear to her signature white face paint, which the singer has explained is a tribute to people in her hometown who used to call gay people clowns.
“People in my hometown call gay people clowns, that’s why I actually wear my white face… Like b**ch, I’ll show you a clown,” she explained at her Midwest Princess tour stop in Manchester, UK.

Taking to TikTok to celebrate her success, a user named Emily revealed that she had come out on top as the contest’s winner. The TikTok was created in response to a comment that read, “I thought the winner was literally her lol.”
Dressed in a tie, white suit, and outsize grey jacket, just as lesbian icon Chappell Roan has worn in the past, the winner looked every bit the Roan lookalike, complete with long, curly auburn hair.

Comments under the post overwhelmingly agreed that she was “the only correct winner,” with many even shooting their shot and asking her out.
“I’m single… ready to yearn for you,” one person wrote. Another added, “Chappell Roan lookalike contest in my bed. Tonight.” A third simply asked, “Ok so… single?”
“You look exactly like her hold flip,” one person commented under the winner’s video, while another wrote: “ZERO NOTES”.
