The Summer I Turned Pretty fans will be glad to hear that a movie has been green lit to wrap up the series’ plot lines.
Spoiler alert: This article contains major spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty finale.
The series finale aired on Wednesday (17 September) and saw Isabel ‘Belly’ Conkin (Lola Tung) wind up with Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) over Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). However, it wasn’t a sad ending for Jeremiah as he kindled a romance with Denise (Isabella Briggs).
But the finale divided fans of Jenny Han’s book series. While many celebrated the series’ conclusion with one person deeming it, “the best ending of a series I’ve ever seen,” many others felt it was “rushed.”

Well, it seems Han and Prime Video agree, seeing more room to flesh out everyone’s storylines. The feature film was announced at Wednesday’s red carpet celebration in Paris.
Han will direct the film as well as co-write it with Sarah Kucserka. Plot details are being kept firmly under wraps for the time being. A release date has also not been mentioned.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey,” said Han. “And I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
Courtenay Valenti and Vernon Sanders of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios added, “The Summer I Turned Pretty has struck a chord with audiences everywhere, creating moments of joy, nostalgia, and connection that have made it a global sensation.”

Season three of the series drew in 25 million viewers globally through its first 7 days. It is also the fifth most watched returning season on Prime Video.
At the start of season three Prime Video had to issue warnings and reminders for how people should behave online. It came after a backlash from some in the fandom towards Casalegno and the prospect that Belly might end up with Jeremiah.
It reached such a level during the season’s run that Prime Video reissued those warnings.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is available on Prime Video.
