Hugely popular girl group KATSEYE reaffirmed their trans allyship with a powerful statement of inclusivity at their recent Grammy Museum spotlight event
On Thursday (18 September), the girl group appeared on the Museum’s Ray Charles Rooftop Terrace for an evening celebrating their second EP, Beautiful Chaos. During their interview, they expressed clear and direct support for trans women being included in their track, which celebrates all types of women.
The six-piece is comprised of Sophia Laforteza, Manon Bannerman, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeong.
Two members of KATSEYE are out members of the LGBTQ+ community. In March, Lara told fans she is “half fruitcake.” Then, in June, Megan came out as bisexual in a live stream.

The band has exploded into the charts with real momentum, surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify, despite releasing their first single just last year.
New voices in the music scene, the Gen Z singers are keen to ensure everyone is included in their music. For instance, in their track “Mean Girls,” from Beautiful Chaos, they shout out all kinds of women: “queen girls” and “mean girls.”
They also nod to the trans community. In the outro, Daniela sings: “God bless the T girls and all the in-between girls.”
Asked about the “T girls” lyric, KATSEYE offered a heartwarming response, captured on Billboard’s TikTok page.
“Let’s be inclusive, it wasn’t even a question to take that lyric out because why?” Manon started.
In a longer clip of her answer, she also says: “Trans lives forever!”
“We want to have everyone accepted for the way they are, we’re Gen Z, we’re past that now.”
‘We want to use power in the right way’
“Also, music is so powerful,” Lara added.
“The platform that we have that has catapulted so fast is such an honour and it’s power that we have.
“We want to use that power in the right way. We work with such a diverse group of people, so many people from the trans community, LGBTQ+ community, and different cultures.”
Lara continued: “We want to highlight and uplift that.”

This isn’t the first time the group have voiced support for the trans community.
Speaking exclusively to PinkNews in July, the girl group articulated that trans allyship is a “no-brainer.”
“Including all women in this song was a no-brainer for us,” Manon shared.
“There was never any hesitation. We constantly work with people from all kinds of communities, and it’s important for us to show love and appreciation in return.”
“They give so much to us, and we want them to feel seen, heard, and celebrated.”
Speaking about their coming outs, Lara shared: “The positivity has deeply affected me and I think it’s affected my understanding of how important using your voice is and how powerful authenticity is.”
Megan also added, of her own experience: “We’ve had some really emotional responses from fans – people who felt seen or inspired to be more open about who they are. Those moments mean everything to us.”
“At the end of the day, being true to ourselves is what matters most.”
