Russell T Davies has shared a major update on his next LGBTQ+ drama, Tip Toe, and teased more is coming.
It was announced in February that the It’s A Sin writer was creating a new series exploring “the most corrosive forces facing the LGBTQ+ community today.” Then, in July, Davies confirmed that the scripts had been completed.
On Tuesday (2 September) Davies shared an image to Instagram of the script for Tip Toe‘s second episode. It looks like it’s piled on the rest of the series’ scripts.
In the caption Davies wrote: “TIP TOE. Readthrough day. Very exciting! Cast announced on Thursday, coming in 2026 on Channel 4.”

Naturally, the update provided a lot of excitement for fans and followers of Davies’s work. “Exciting times!!!,” wrote one fan. “Can’t wait!,” added another while someone else typed: “This is going to be fucking mega, you are the king.”
A synopsis for the series reads: “The five-part series will follow Leo and Clive who live next door to each other in Manchester. Leo runs a bar on Canal Street, Clive’s an electrician, with two teenage sons. But just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense.
“Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and gradually, two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe. The series, populated with a cast of vibrant characters and underscored with Davies’ trademark wit and deft humour, is an urgent yet gripping tale that brings a spotlight to bear on the re-emergence of an incipient threat.”
Tip Toe will see Davies return to the familiar setting of Manchester. Queer as Folk, Banana and Cucumber were all set in the city.
Speaking in February, he said: “It’s my honour to combine my old home, Channel 4, with my second home, Canal Street. This is a show I had to write because the world is getting stranger, tougher and darker, and the fight is on”.
