Proving that gays can make questionable decisions too, Olivia Attwood has shared why including a same-sex couple in the second season of Bad Boyfriends was a ‘no brainer’ decision.
The ITV2 reality television program Bad Boyfriends is set to return this month, once again helmed by Love Island alum Olivia Attwood-Dack – and in season two, the infidelity-centric show features a gay couple.
The premise of Bad Boyfriends is exactly what it sounds like; “Eight unsuspecting bad boyfriends will be flown to a Greek island under the premise of filming a series about manhood and bromance in a hedonistic holiday mecca, before getting the shock of their lives when Olivia appears to announce their wild partying days are on hold and to reveal the true purpose of the show – to whip them into better boyfriend shape.
“All at the behest of their long-suffering girlfriends, whose surprise, dramatic arrivals cause mayhem.”
But in season two, it won’t just be girlfriends appearing to confront their other halves, but the partner of one of the ‘bad boyfriends’, too, in the show’s first same-sex pairing. The cast was announced 2 September.
At an ITV Reality event, Attwood-Dack revealed: “It was a no brainer. We wanted one last series but you know what it’s like with these things.
“I think as viewers people kind of forget how much goes into finding couples. It’s a very specific thing they’re looking for,” she said.
The star, who has helmed plenty of LGBTQ+ inclusive documentaries including Getting Filthy Rich, continued: “You’re looking for couples with real history, a real relationship with issues there and they’re willing to bring them to camera. There’s so many layers to that.”

She added: “It wasn’t an intent discussion not to have one in series one, we just didn’t find a couple that fitted what we needed for the show.
“This series there was a couple that made sense and they wanted to share their story with us and they’re amazing.”
The couple, care assistant Anthony and care home activities co-ordinator Dillon, join seven other couples in a series full of “new twists and turns and jaw-dropping revelations”.
Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends premieres on 14 September on ITV2 and ITVX.
