Oz just got even gayer, as Sing Sing actor Colman Domingo has confirmed that he will voice the Cowardly Lion in Wicked: For Good.
The 55-year-old actor and two-time Oscar nominee shared the announcement via social media earlier today (20 October).
In a clip set to wildly dramatic music, the star hides his face between a lion plushie, before revealing himself as the man behind the mammal.
“See you Oz!” he says, before giving the camera a cheeky wink.
Domingo most recently appeared in drag for Sabrina Carpenter’s “Tears” music video, but is best known for his roles in HBO’s Euphoria and Netflix series The Four Seasons.
He was also Oscar nominated at the last two Academy Awards in the Best Actor category, in 2024 for his Bayard Rustin biopic Rustin, and in 2025 for prison drama Sing Sing.
With Rustin he became only the second out gay actor to be Oscar nominated for playing a gay character.
The gay actor joins an impressively queer Wicked cast, with stars Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James all identifying as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
There has been much speculation about who would voice the character of the Cowardly Lion in Wicked: For Good, with director Jon M Chu recently teasing that fans would be thrilled when they finally learnt who it is.
“Man, wait until the red carpet when the actor who gave us the Cowardly Lion’s voice steps foot on it. It’ll be wild,” he said.
The Cowardly Lion is a major character in Frank Baum’s original story The Wizard of Oz, which – by way of numerous adaptations – inspired Chu’s blockbuster.

Cowardly Lion has far less screen time in Wicked than in The Wizard of Oz, but remains a core part of the plot in the story’s second half.
In Wicked, the Cowardly Lion is the lion cub who Elphaba (Erivo) and Fiyero (Bailey) steal from a cage brought into class by a new professor following the capture of Dr. Dillamond (Peter Dinklage).
During the scenes, it is revealed that the caged lion will not grow up learning how to speak, inspiring Elphaba to take action. However, in the film’s second part, fans will see the Cowardly Lion blame Elphaba for his cowardice for not allowing him to stand up for himself.
The Cowardly Lion will appear alongside the Tin Man and Scarecrow during the performance of Wicked song “March of the Witch Hunters”.
Wicked: For Good is in cinemas from 21 November.
