Doctor advised Lady Gaga to cancel Miami show due to ‘risky’ health issue

Lady Gaga has apologised to fans after she cancelled her Miami show citing an “extremely strained” voice.

The singer, 39, took to her Instagram stories on Wednesday (3 September) shortly before The Mayhem Ball performance at the Kaseya Center was due to start to explain why she had pulled out.

“During rehearsal last night and my vocal warmup tonight my voice was extremely strained and both my dr and vocal coach have advised me not to go on because of the risk it poses,” the “Dead Dance” singer wrote.

Gaga went on to say she wanted “to be hardcore and just push through this for you,” but the risk of “long term or permanent damage on my vocal cords,” was too great.

“There is a significant risk based on all our combined experience with a show like ours and as you know I sing live every night – and even though this was a hard and agonizing decision I would be more afraid of the long term implications on my voice,” she continued.

“I hope you can forgive me and accept my sincerest apologies for any disappointment, let down, inconvenience,” said the singer, as she closed her statement before apologising a second time.

She then said, “I take serious care of myself to be able to put on this highly demanding show. I love my fans so much, respect you and hope you can accept my sincere regretful apology.”

She finished by saying that her team were trying to reschedule the missed performance “as quickly as possible.”

The Mayhem Ball kicked off in July in Las Vegas which followed Gaga’s sensational Coachella performances earlier this year. Gaga is due to start the UK and European leg of the tour at the end of the month with four sold out shows at the O2 on 29 and 30 September as well as 2 and 4 October.

The tour comes in support of her seventh studio album, Mayhem. But that’s not all the music the “Poker Face” singer has released this year. As well as starring in the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday, Gaga has released the song “Dead Dance” which features in the season’s seventh episode.

The song, released in time with the drop of Wednesday season two’s second half on Wednesday (3 September), has been a hit with fans with Gaga being labelled, “The GODDESS of pop.”

Wednesday is streaming now.
