Yungblud has discussed past allegations of ‘queerbaiting’, explaining it’s partly to blame for him taking a break from social media.
In an open interview on the We Need to Talk podcast with Paul C. Brunsen the 27-year-old singer discussed growing up in Doncaster, getting his first record deal, and more.
During a discussion about the misconceptions people have about him, Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, was asked specifically about the ‘queerbaiting’ allegations.
The term refers to when people are when people attempt to attract an LGBT audience by hinting at same-sex relationships or queer identities without following through.

“I’ve fucked everyone under the sun and that’s the vibe,” Yungblud said. “I love love. And if it’s a vibe, it’s a vibe.”
The comments chime with Yungblud’s past comments on the topic of his sexuality. In 2020 he came out as polyamorous, telling Attitude: “I love everyone, I’m attracted to everyone.”
Chatting to Brunsen, Yungblud said “People can formulate an idea on something they don’t even know,” before reiterating that “if the person’s a vibe the person’s a vibe” regarding his attraction to people.
@pinknews Yungblud has opened up about his sexuality and addressed accusations that he’s ‘queerbaiting’. In an interview for We Need To Talk with Paul C. Brunsen, the singer said: “I’ve f**ked everyone under the sun and that’s the vibe. I love love and if it’s a vibe it’s a vibe”. In an interview with Attitude in 2019, Yungblud said he prefers not to think of himself in terms of labels, adding “it’s about connection. I’m very fluid about it”. #yungblud #yungbludarmy #sexuality #queertiktok #weneedtotalk #lgbtqia ♬ Hello Heaven, Hello – YUNGBLUD
He also discussed breaking gender norms in his personal style, saying he’d been wearing a skirt from the age of six.
The punk singer also touched on how social media discourse had an impact on him. He said that at 27″it’s funny’ and can remain fairly unbothered by it. But at 21 he “shut down” after seeing false narratives about him on Twitter.
“I’m loud and I’m myself,” he said as to why people come after him. “I’m quite opinionated and I’ve got an energy people don’t believe is real.”
He then continued by saying he’s “exhausted” at people admitting they’ve misjudged him before meeting him.
