RuPaul’s Drag Race production company World of Wonder has filed for copyright of UNHhhh season nine, leading fans to believe the Trixie Mattel and Katya-fronted web series could be returning.
With 229 episodes to date, covering everything from the concept of ‘the weather’ to ‘mistakes’ to ‘gay’ (yep, just ‘being gay’), UNHhhh is the web series that truly catapulted Trixie Mattel and Katya to fame after their first foray into the Werk Room on season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
With nothing but a green screen, some funky editing and the gift of the gab, Trixie and Katya’s UNHhhh became a firm fan favourite, racking up millions of views per episode on the WOWPresents YouTube channel over its eight season run.
Despite a promise in 2023 that the show would be back for a ninth season in 2024 that the pair were just on “hiatus” (according to the description for the final episode uploaded to WOW Presents Plus), UNHhhh is yet to return.
But according to the United States Copyright Office, copyright has been filed for a ninth season. The filing, which is publicly available to view, was registered on 12 May, and lists ‘UNHhhh Season 9‘. It can be found by searching the phrase on the site.
It was filed by WOW Presents Plus LLC – the company name for subscription-based streaming service created by World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race.
A few disclaimers: This does not mean that Trixie and Katya themselves are guaranteed to be returning for another season of UNHhhh, nor that the show is guaranteed to return at all. It simply means that World of Wonder own the rights to a ninth season of the show, should they make it.
Copyright was also filed for UNHhhh seasons five through eight on the same date, according to the Copyright Office – and all eight seasons are available to watch on YouTube and WOW Presents Plus.
It’s also (unfortunately) always possible that while World of Wonder is due to produce a ninth season of UNHhhh, it won’t feature Trixie and Katya, with other Drag Race girls filling in.
Neither World of Wonder, Trixie nor Katya has confirmed a ninth season of UNHhhh, either.
