Rep. Jasmine Crockett roasts Republicans with ‘Trump or trans’ game during DOGE hearing

House Democrat and unapologetic activist, Jasmine Crockett, showed her iconic side yet again by playing a game she coined, called “Trump or trans”, during a chaotic trans athlete hearing.

The 44-year-old Texas Congressional member hit out at Republicans aiming to paint trans people as inherently dangerous during the Wednesday (7 May) Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) hearing on the inclusion of trans athletes in female competitions.

The hearing, dubbed “Unfair Play: Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” was scheduled after a cisgender female fencer was disqualified for refusing to compete against a trans opponent.

US fencer Stephanie Turner was shown a black card in March for refusing to compete against fellow opponent Red Sullivan in a foil tournament at the University of Maryland.

Officials chose to disqualify Turner for violating an International Fencing Federation (FIE) policy which disallows fencers from refusing to compete against any properly entered fencer for any reason.

Crockett, who was among the panel of committee members, held nothing back during the proceedings, criticising the hearing at its core for having “nothing to do with improving Government efficiency.”

She argued that, rather, it was an attempt by Republicans to “distract from their demonic and disastrous policies”, which she said are making it difficult for Americans to “make ends meet.”

The hearing quickly descended into a chaotic shouting match between opposing committee members, which included notoriously anti-trans Republicans Marjorie Taylor Greene and Nancy Mace.

During Crockett’s turn to speak, she asked witness and National Women’s Law Center CEO, Fatima Goss Graves, to play a game she invented called “Trump or trans.”

“So I’m gonna ask you a few questions and I want you to tell me who was responsible [between US president Donald Trump or trans people], understand? Okay,” she said.

Crockett then began asking who was behind a series of issues across the US, including “gutting medical research,” “kidnapping Americans and sending them to foreign countries, AKA, deporting,” “driving us into a recession,” “increasing the cost of everything,” and “waging an idiotic terror war.”

Responding, Goss Graves answered that Donald Trump was responsible for every single example Crockett gave.

After listing off a cavalcade of extra examples, Crockett finished by saying the committee’s time could be used on “fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement,” but was instead being used on non-issues like trans athletics.

“So let’s talk about waste,” she continued. “Let’s talk about how Trump spent almost $100 million on his little birthday parade, or how he spent 25 per cent of his first 100 days in office golfing, costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars – in fact it’s a little over $30 million in our last estimation. In fact, Trump is on pace to spend more than $1 billion of taxpayers money just on golfing.

“The Republicans have been silent, so they must think spending taxpayer dollars on the president’s golfing trips is more important than providing healthcare to their constituents.”

Elsewhere during the hearing, Nancy Mace, who has become notorious for her anti-trans rhetoric and usage of slurs during committee hearings, directed insults towards Goss Graves after asking her: “What is a woman.”

Before she let the witness finish her answer, Mace continually cut Goss Graves off, saying she sounded like “a lunatic” and repeated slurs, saying she and trans athletes are “groomers.”

Mace was granted extra time during her tirade after fellow Republican and transphobe, Marjorie Taylor Greene, interrupted both Mace and Goss Graves to prevent the witness from answering the questions put forth by the committee.

Greene also engaged in a shouting match with Democratic rep. Melanie Stansbury, who used her time to emphasise the need to protect trans people at a time when their rights are being revoked.

After the Georgia Republican said Stansbury’s time was up, the Democrat added that she “stands with” the trans community, which Greene attempted to interrupt by slamming her gavel down for 40 consecutive seconds.
