Pedro Pascal’s trans sister Lux Pascal sizzles in trailer for drama Miss Carbón

The compelling trailer for Lux Pascal’s new true-life transgender drama film Miss Carbón has landed.

Lux Pascal, sister of The Last of Us heartthrob and major trans ally Pedro Pascal, stars in the Spanish-language drama as lead character Carlita, the first female miner in a region of Argentina where women are forbidden from working the mines.

Directed by Augstina Marci, Miss Carbón tells the true story of the passionate Carla Antonella Rodríguez who, after transitioning, overcame discrimination in the workplace and the archaic superstition that women cause the mines to collapse. She was the first woman in the region to work in a mine, defying long-held beliefs about gender roles in the country.

In a captivating new trailer, Lux Pascal plays Carlita as a defiant, resilient woman on a mission to fulfil her passion. As she navigates her transition, including gender-affirming care, she comes up against testing work dynamics with the miner men, but manages to lead a social revolution in the process.

“Carlita, as a trans woman, managed to enter the mine, breaking the system from within and igniting the spark of a revolution,” reads a synopsis from production company Caramel Films.

In a statement, director Marci said:  “The courage shown by Carlita to fulfil her dream of being a miner and also a woman is something that pierced my soul from the day I read the script for the first time.

“With her strength and spirit, she is a prime example of what dreaming can achieve and that there is still a lot of ground to overcome as women and trans women. But she, in that sense, brings hope.”

On 8 May the production company shared a new film poster on social media, showcasing Pascal looking skyward with gem-like tears on her face. It also confirmed a cinema release date of 13 June.

Miss Carbón will be released in Spanish cinemas first, with an international release yet to be confirmed.

Paco León, Lautaro Zera and Simone Mercado will also star alongside Pascal.

Lux Pascal came out as a trans woman back in 2021, after beginning her transition in 2020.

She has previously referred to her brother Pedro Pascal as an “important part” of her gender journey, and recently praised him for helping her understand that she doesn’t need to “hide” who she is.

“The thing is that I’ve always known that he is a superstar,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in April.

“What makes [Pedro] so fabulous is that he wears all of his humanity on his sleeve, and he doesn’t hide who he is. And I think that’s refreshing, because usually we move around the world hiding who we are. That’s the main lesson I’ve gotten from him: there’s no reason for me to hide who I am, right? And I think people are seeing that.”

Pedro Pascal has become increasingly vocal with his pro-trans allyship in recent months, fiercely taking down so-called “fans” who have rejected his support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Last month, he blasted Harry Potter author JK Rowling for celebrating the UK’s Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of the terms “sex” and “women”.

In April, five judges unanimously declared that the terms “sex” and “women” in the UK’s 2010 Equality Act refers to biological sex and biological women, thus excluding trans women.

Pascal stated it was “heinous loser” behaviour to celebrate the ruling.

The Fantastic Four actor was also the first celebrity to be seen sporting a “Protect The Dolls” t-shirt, which has since become a mainstream, pro-trans fashion statement and helped to raise thousands of dollars for US trans charity Trans Lifeline.
