Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has issued a scathing response after Pedro Pascal called JK Rowling’s antics “heinous loser behaviour”.
The Fantastic Four star, whose sister Lux is trans, criticised the Harry Potter author for her reaction to the UK Supreme Court’s decision regarding definition of the words “sex” and “woman” in the 2010 Equality Act. The UK’s top judges handed down an 88-page judgement decreeing that the words referred to “biological sex” and “biological women”, thus excluding transgender people.
The case was brought by gender-critical group For Women Scotland, who were helped to the tune of £70,000 (more than $95,000) by Rowling.
After the verdict was announced, Rowling, known for her gender-critical views, posted a photo on social media of herself celebrating with a cigar and a cocktail. “I love it when a plan comes together,” she wrote, before saying her husband had dubbed the announcement TERF VE Day.

LGBTQ+ ally Pascal responded by branding her actions “awful, disgusting sh*t” and “heinous loser behaviour”.
Rowling responded by saying: “Can’t say I feel very shut down, but keep at it, Pedro. God loves a trier”. And now, Navratilova, who has campaigned against trans inclusion in sports, has also weighed in, saying Pascal was a “another Johnny-come-lately telling women to STFU”.
Following the media storm around his comments, Pascal discussed them further in Vanity Fair, questioning whether he was actually helping the trans community.
He said he felt like “that kid [who] got sent to the principal’s office a lot for behavioural issues in public schools in Texas, feeling scared and thinking: what’d I do?”

He went on to say: “The one thing I agonised over a little bit was am I helping? Am I f**king helping? It’s a situation that deserves the utmost elegance so that something can actually happen, and people will actually be protected. I want to protect the people I love. But it goes beyond that, bullies make me f**king sick.”
Navratilova has previously criticised Potter star Daniel Radcliffe for his support of the trans community, telling him to be “quiet”, and described drag queens as a “pathetic parody of women” after they spoke out against LGBTQ+ hate.
