JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes have given their first joint interview post-Celebrity Big Brother, appearing on daytime TV show This Morning today (28 April) to chat about, amongst other things, the fact that JoJo broke up with her partner Kath Ebbs at the CBB wrap party on Friday.
The pair were interviewed by hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, who didn’t hold back when it came to digging into Siwa and Hughes’ flirty relationship in the house and what it all meant.
JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes were repeatedly seen kissing, cuddling in bed and embracing during their time on Celebrity Big Brother, sparking controversy due to their 11-year age gap (Chris Hughes is 32 and JoJo Siwa is 21), and the fact that Siwa was dating 27-year-old Australian influencer Kath Ebbs at the time.

After the final aired on Friday (25 April), Ebbs took to Instagram to explain that Siwa had broken up with her at the wrap party, saying they were “shocked” and “numb” after the “two weeks of sitting back, watching certain things unfold and not being able to get any clarity” while Siwa was on the series.
Ebbs claimed they were “being told that I’m the love of someone’s life, being asked to marry them before this social experiment, being adored throughout, behind closed doors”, but was “hurt by what I saw”.
Nonetheless, the influencer said they “wanted to work through it” with Siwa and felt they were “further humiliated” by the breakup.
The This Morning hosts quizzed JoJo Siwa about how that quite public breakup had come to pass.
She replied that had not been her “plan” to break up with Ebbs at that point, explaining: “Initially, I was told that, you know, the wrap party was something they didn’t want to attend. And then about an hour into the wrap party, they decided they wanted to, and so I was genuinely just going to have a conversation before…
“They straight up asked me if I was happy, and I said no. And, you know, one thing led to another, and that conversation did take place there.”

Speaking more generally about her time in the house, she said that she’d ended up having a lot of deep thoughts about what she wanted from life in general, saying: “Honestly when I went into the house day one fun, day two fun… but then day three I was now in my own thoughts, away from outside opinions, away from everything. I sat with myself and I really realised things that I was OK with – I should not have been OK with.”
“I knew as soon as I got out, I wanted to fix things in my life”
This Morning host Cat Deeley pressed her further, asking: “Do you mean your relationship?” Siwa answered: “So many things, that is one of them, but so many things. And then I, you know, obviously I wanted to hold them inside, though, because I didn’t want to air that out very publicly. But there were countless things that I was like, that’s not, you know, something that I should be OK with and I don’t need to be OK with and I’m not happy, and I knew as soon as I got out, I wanted to fix things in my life and make the changes that I needed to make.
“Because I don’t know, I think you have this experience that’s so exhilarating. It’s 20 days, but it feels like it’s four and a half years, and the first thing you want to do when you get out is just exactly what you need to do in your life to make it as good as you can.
“And I think I realised just how not great things were that I was pretending they were great.. And it’s been hard, but it’s, it’s been good. And I’m very I’m very happy with where I am now. I’m very grateful.”
The pair also reiterated the fact that their relationship was platonic, with Hughes telling the hosts: “It’s just a really strong friendship, you can have a soulmate friendship, that’s a thing. It’s not the standard friendship you have with your friends but it’s still a friendship. Having someone in there to go through an experience like that with… was beautiful.”
Finally, JoJo Siwa was asked if she’d like her relationship with Chris Hughes to become romantic in the future, and she looked a bit startled before replying, enigmatically: “Whatever life does, life will do.”
