A new waxwork allegedly of Billie Eilish has been unveiled and social media is not OK.
The Hollywood Wax Museum’s latest attraction has been met with a string of hilarious comments about what its creators got wrong. Which is almost everything.
The rendition is said to be based on Billie Eilish’s Oscars 2020 style. While some feature bear small resemblance, the face offers what The Independent described as “an uncanny valley version” of the singer-songwriter.
A photo of the waxwork posted by Pop Crave on Monday (26 June) sparked a Twitter frenzy, with users flooding the comments saying it looked nothing like the award-winning singer.
Selling Sunset star Chrishell Staus was so taken aback by the photo that she suggested “unplug the wax making machine”. Another user dubbed it “Barely Eilish”.
Ummmmmmmmm I’m gonna need them to unplug the wax making machine for 15secs and plug it back in and start over https://t.co/lIn6vvYlM3

Some suggested it bore a closer resemblance to American Horror Stories Leslie Grossman or Daryl Hannah from Sense8.

There was even a comparison to Stranger Things 4 character 001, with the waxwork giving the same terrifying, blank stare.

In fact, the Billie Eilish waxwork was compared pretty much every other celeb and fictional character other than Billie Eilish herself.
The quality of the figure drew similar comparisons made about the Madame Tussauds wax figure of US rapper and singer, Nicki Minaj. That waxwork, which originally showcased at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas in 2015, was also met with swift criticism, with fans accusing Madame Tussauds of “whitewashing” the singer.
When the Minaj figure moved to Berlin in 2020, the viral images resurfaced, with the creation dubbed “the worst celeb wax figure the internet has ever seen”.

Prior to the memeification of the Eilish wax figure, she’d already been trending on social media due to her Glastonbury 2022 headline set.
At the age of 20, Eilish became the youngest headline act to perform at the festival, and won rave reviews for her performance.
During her 90 minute set, described as “90 minutes of noir-pop catharsis” by one reviewer, Eilish spoke about the recent US Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v Wade.
Addressing the Pyramid Stage audience, she said: “Today is a really dark day for women in the US.” She then started to perform 2021 song, “Your Power”, a powerful track that references abuses of power over young women.
