White House account trolled for sharing cringe-worthy Trump Star Wars AI image with glaring mistake

The official White House X/Twitter page shared a post with AI-generated images of Donald Trump wielding a lightsaber and everyone is pointing out the same thing.

The actual, real social media account for the US president’s administration took to X/Twitter to post an array of artificially created images inspired by the Star Wars franchise as part of a “May the 4th” celebration on Sunday.

The annual holiday, also known as “Star Wars Day,” celebrates the sci-fi space opera franchise, originating as a pun, “May the 4th be with you,” a rhyming take on the series catchphrase “may the Force be with you.”

To mark the occasion, the genuine, state-run White House X account shared artwork that depicted Donald Trump as an abnormally muscle-bound, force-sensitive warrior wielding a lightsaber and flanked by two bald Eagles and American flags.

The AI-generated image was complimented by an actual statement from the, again, we can’t stress this enough – OFFICIAL White House account – which wished everyone a happy May the 4th, including “the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to bring Sith Lords, Murders, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners & well-known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You’re not the Rebellion – you’re the Empire.”

The mention of “MS-13 Gang Members” appears to be a brazen reference to the recent deportation of 29-year-old Maryland resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who US government officials deported over claims he was a member of the Salvadorian gang. The US Supreme Court later ruled that Garcia had been deported in error and that he should be returned home immediately.

As well as pointing out that using the unlawful deportation of an US citizen in a Star Wars post is incredibly tone deaf, other commenters noted that Trump’s lightsaber in the image is red, making him a Sith Lord.

In the Star Wars universe, Sith Lords are a faction of evil force-sensitive warriors who strive to take over the Galaxy and, using the Dark Side of the Force, impose their dominion over the Galaxy.

The post was quickly swamped with users who mocked the account for its glaring mistake, with one user asking whether the White House had a single “nerd on staff to tell you what colour lightsaber is good and what colour is bad?”

the White House wasn’t the only official US government account to use May the 4th to share unhinged posts about the Trump administration. The Department of Defence’s Rapid Response account, which is designed to inform the public about swift national security responses, shared a rendition of the Star Wars scroll text sharing “100 days of accomplishments.”

The US Pacific Army account also shared an AI-generated image of two US soldiers wielding lightsabers, one red and one blue, with the hashtags “lethality” and “readiness” included in the post.

The actual, real White House also shared an AI-generated picture of Donald Trump as the Pope

Far be it from having any sense of irony or self-awareness, the White House social media account, which we again emphasise is very much real despite regularly appearing to be a parody of itself, also shared an AI-generated image of Donald Trump a day prior, this time showing him as the Pope.

The account shared a screenshot of Trump’s post on his personal social media website, Truth Social, in which he used AI image tools to generate a picture of himself wearing a white cassock, a gold crucifix pendant, and a bishop’s hat, less than a month after the death of Pope Francis.

The 78-year-old president had joked that he would “like to be Pope.” just days before posting the image.

The image was lambasted as “offensive” and “poor taste” by members of the Catholic church, who condemned the social media post.

The New York State Catholic Conference, which represents bishops in the state, said there was “nothing clever or funny” about the image, adding: “We just buried our beloved Pope Francis and the cardinals are about to enter a solemn conclave to elect a new successor of St. Peter. Do not mock us.”

After the image was reposted by the White House’s official account, users began using the platform’s AI tool, Grok, to start mocking Trump by modifying the image.

Some began to ask the AI to add clown face paint to the image, while others asked it to generate pictures of Trump worshipping a statue of Lucifer.

Regardless, Trump’s request to be appointed to the Papacy, serious or not, is not on the cards. To become the Pope, one must have studied courses on the Bible at university, be unmarried, and be a baptised Catholic. Donald Trump doesn’t fit any of these criteria.
