The first teaser has dropped for the third film in the murder mystery Knives Out film series, titled Wake Up Dead Man – and it’s spookalicious.
Dust off those magnifying glasses and ridiculous Southern accents, because Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) is back, baby.
Well, almost. Blanc first appeared in 2019’s Knives Out alongside Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collete and Ana De Armas, and then in 2022 with Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which saw Janelle Monáe do double duty alongside Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson and Kathryn Hahn – and he’s ready for round three.
The title for the third instalment (Wake Up Dead Man) was announced in 2024, and soon started filling its ranks with stars such as Challengers‘ bisexual baddie Josh O’Connor, Priscilla‘s Cailee Spaeny and Fleabag‘s sexy priest Andrew Scott and more.
Little has been released about the plot of the film, or what mystery (or mystery within a mystery) the canonically queer Benoit Blanc will have to solve – but fans got their first clues today (29 May) via a 12-second teaser posted to social media.

The first Knives Out 3 clip features an ominous looking church and graveyard, accompanied by the tolling of a church bell, which instead of fading out, gets louder and more intense before the teaser cuts to black.
The post is captioned with an equally mysterious phrase: “The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures.” Whatever that means.
The production began filming in mid 2024, unveiling a look at Blanc’s fancy new hairdo at the time, and wrapped in August.
The greatest detective of all time was then seen in another still image posted by director and writer Rian Johnson in January 2025, this time in a church accompanied by O’Connor as a priest.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out mystery is also set to star Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church – though there’s no word whether Hugh Grant will return as Blanc’s long-suffering partner.
The only other teaser for the film is the logline: “Are you ready for Benoit Blanc’s most dangerous case yet?” Yep, sure am.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is due to be released in late 2025.
