Taylor Swift fans think she’s about to drop not one, but two new albums

Taylor Swift has released “This Love (Taylor’s Version) – and fans are convinced she’s about to drop new versions of 1989 and Speak Now.

As May marks six months since the release of Red (Taylor’s Version), it seems Taylor Swift might be back to bless Swifties with two more re-recorded albums.

On Thursday (6 May), the singer announced that her rerecorded “This Love”, from 1989, will be featured in the upcoming Hulu adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Soon after, her management team, Taylor Nation, announced a surprise merch drop.

Appropriately named “The Old Taylor Collection” as a tribute to that iconic line in 2017’s “Look What You Made Me Do”, it features a range of clothing and accessories inspired by her 2010 album Speak Now and 2014’s 1989.

Fans took it as a sign that the singer will be revisiting both albums imminently – she is currently part-way through re-recording each of her first six albums.

the fact that there’s a real possibility that she’ll release 1989 tv and speak now tv back to back I’m sorry for the person I’ll become if that happens

“This Love (Taylor’s Version)” is Swift’s second 1989 re-recording after “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)”, which came out in 2021

Taylor Swift began re-recording her first six albums in 2019 to regain artistic ownership of her work.

Her decision to do so came after a heated feud with music manager Scooter Braun, who took ownership of her back catalogue as part of a takeover of her old record label, and then sold her masters onto an investment fund.

Without the ownership of her masters, Taylor Swift would have limited say in how her back catalogue is used.

Since 2019 she has since been in the process of re-recording her past albums.

Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was the first re-recording to be released, and was followed several months later by Red (Taylor’s Version).

Speak Now, 1989, Reputation and her debut Taylor Swift are all still to come.
