New details for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse have finally emerged, and it looks out of this universe.
The second part of Miles Morales’ journey to save his dad, following the 2023 hit sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, finally has a release date after details were revealed during CinemaCon on Monday (31 March).
Sony announced that the final part of the animated trilogy is due in cinemas on 4 June 2027.
Originally set for release this time last year, the film was delayed by the Hollywood strikes. But now, the official Beyond the Spider-Verse X/Twitter account has shared stills from the upcoming adventure, including a battle between Miles and his evil alternate-universe counterpart, and a psychedelic still of New York.

The screenplay is reportedly being written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Dave Callaham, who penned the previous film, and being directed Bob Persichetti and Justin K Thompson, who worked on both earlier movies.
“The creativity and care poured into every minute of this project has been truly inspiring,” the directors said. “We have crafted what we feel is a very satisfying ending, and we can’t wait for fans to experience it. We’re bringing everything we’ve got.”

Jharrel Jerome, who provided the voice for Earth-42 Miles Morales, told DigitalSpy in January that he hadn’t begun work on the film yet, and that “a lot of things [were] being figured out, but good things”.
This wasn’t the only Spidey news on offer at CinemaCon, with new details regarding the fourth instalment of Tom Holland’s live-action adaptation, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also announced.
Many LGBTQ+ fans are convinced Gwen Stacy is trans

Following the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, keen-eyed audiences felt that major character Gwen Stacy is transgender.
The theories were partly based on the film’s first trailer, in which the character’s room featured a trans flag with the words “protect trans kids” written across it.
Not only that, but in several scenes Gwen is seen drenched in colours reminiscent of the trans Pride flag, particularly during where she is wrestling with the urge to admit to her father, police captain George Stacy, that she is Spider-Woman.
If a sub-plot about wanting to come out as your true self to a parent whom you fear may reject you wasn’t enough, after Gwen finally does reveal her identity, one of the final shots of her father shows his coat, which has a trans flag stitched to the arm.
