Pedro Pascal wins Thunderbolts* UK premiere with ‘Protect The Dolls’ trans rights t-shirt

The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal rocked up to the premiere of Marvel’s Thunderbolts* wearing his now iconic ‘Protect The Dolls’ t-shirt in support of trans rights.

Despite not even being in Marvel’s latest offering to the MCU, The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ leading man Pedro Pascal won the London Premiere of Thunderbolts* by attending the Yellow Carpet in an oversized beige trench coat, a purple cap, and the same t-shirt that he wore to celebrate his recent 50th birthday alongside Honey Dijon.

The t-shirt, by fashion designer Connor Ives, helps to raise money for the nonprofit Trans Lifeline, and has raised tens of thousands of pounds after Ives debuted it during the close of his London Fashion Week Show.

Pascal then wore the same t-shirt to his birthday bash, which was attended by a host of stars including his trans sister Lux Pascal, and legendary trans DJ Honey Dijon.

“Dolls” is a commonly used term among the LGBTQ+ community to describe transgender women. The term has its roots in Ballroom culture.

Pascal’s iconic wardrobe choice for the premiere, which was held in London’s Leicester Square, comes just days after the UK Supreme Court ruled that the legal definition of a woman excludes trans women.

The Thunderbolts* London Premiere was attended by the stars of the film, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and more, as well as other Marvel actors like Simu Liu and Pascal.

Pascal has a long track record of vocal trans allyship, not least in reference to his sister and actress, Lux.

In November, Pascal was seen fixing Lux’s dress when the pair attended the Gladiator II premiere together, and the actor has continued to post and re-post messages of support for the queer and trans community.

The 50-year-old most recently starred in The Last of Us‘s second season – though after a brutal second episode involving a golf club, we’re not sure how much of Joel Miller we’ll be seeing in future episodes.

The upcoming Thunderbolts* is directed by Paper Towns director Jake Schreier and written by Black Widow‘s Eric Pearson, Beef‘s Lee Sung Jin, and The Bear‘s Joanna Calo.

Thunderbolts* is in cinemas on 2 May 2025.
