Celebrity Big Brother star JoJo Siwa has announced that she will be releasing a new single, calling it her “most personal” song yet, as she re-adjusts to life back in the US without her bestie Chris Hughes or her ex, Kath Ebbs.
During her time on the iconic ITV reality show, she was filmed cosying up to Love Island‘s Chris Hughes and revealed that she no longer identifies as a lesbian but as “queer” instead.
Following the conclusion of the show, Siwa broke up with her partner, non-binary influencer Kath Ebbs.
Ebbs took to Instagram to reveal that the relationship ended during the show’s wrap party, saying that they felt “so numbed out… and so disoriented… after two weeks of sitting back watching certain things unfold and not being able to get any clarity from the person that it involved”.
“I was told there were confused feelings there and they had realised in the [Big Brother] house that I wasn’t the person they wanted to spend the foreseeable with,” Ebbs added.
Siwa later addressed the split on This Morning by saying that it was not her plan to end the relationship at the Wrap Party but that Ebbs “straight up” asked her if she was happy and she said “no” which is what led to their breakup.
Siwa and Hughes were repeatedly seen cuddling in bed during their time on Celebrity Big Brother, sparking controversy, largely due to the age gap between them. Hughes is 32 and Siwa is 21.
The pair have vehemently denied any romantic feelings between them, reiterating the fact that their relationship was strictly platonic both in and out of the house.
“It’s just a really strong friendship, you can have a soulmate friendship, that’s a thing. It’s not the standard friendship you have with your friends but it’s still a friendship. Having someone in there to go through an experience like that with… was beautiful,” Hughes said on This Morning.
However, Siwa did not rule out the possibility of their relationship becoming romantic in the future.
And now, fans are wondering if her new song will provide any clarity.
Siwa has said that her new “up-tempo summer ear-worm” track “Bulletproof” will be released on May 16.
The song is reportedly about “strength and vulnerability and realising no one is immune from the [effects] others have on you”.
“It’s my most personal song yet because it’s about the journey I’ve been on and the challenges I’ve faced, and how I’ve come out of them stronger. I can’t wait for my fans to hear it and to see the video we worked so hard on,” Siwa added.
She previously released the song “Karma” last year, which formed part of the Guilty Pleasure EP.
