Queer stars and allies, including Jennifer Coolidge, Demi Lovato and Shea Couleé, descended on Puerto Vallarta, in Mexico, at the weekend for the opening of new LGBTQ+ hotel, The Tryst.
The hotel’s celebrations started on Thursday (24 April) to mark the occasion described by Tryst founder Tristan Schukraft, as a “love letter to queer joy”.
Among the highlights were DJ sets by RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Gottmik and Violet Chachki, as well as performances from singers Vincint and Leland. There was also a drag brunch, featuring Couleé, and a rooftop pool party hosted by Real Housewives star Erika Jayne.

Among the stars joining Coolidge and Lovato, were Antoni Porowski, Ts Madison, Julia Fox, Laverne Cox, Evan Ross Katz, Chrishell Stause, Johnny Sibilly and Colton Haynes.

Fire Island‘s Matt Rogers hosted a red-carpet event on the Friday with Leland providing the music. The night’s celebrations peaked with an elaborate fireworks display.

“I wanted to create the kind of hotel I was always searching for, where the cocktails are cold, the men are hot, and you can wear the tiniest swimsuit you own without a second glance,” Schukraft said.
“Our grand opening weekend was everything a gay luxury hotel should be: drag queens diving into the pool, DJs lighting up the rooftop, and a sea of friends (and future friends) around every corner.

“The Tryst is unapologetically gay, effortlessly glamorous and built for men who crave the finer things… with just the right amount of mischief.”

The Tryst is located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romántica. Designed by the award-winning team behind the Four Seasons Tamarindo, also in Mexico, it features 53 guest rooms and suites, many of which have open-air showers, private terraces and ocean views.

The Tryst is also set to open a Fire Island venue later this year with San Juan hotel to be relaunched in 2026.
