Keke Palmer and Euphoria‘s Barbie Ferreira have been cast in Jordan Peele’s next horror film, simply titled Nope.
It was revealed late last year that Universal had set a date for a new film from Peele, whose directorial debut, Get Out, and its follow-up, Us, were cultural and box office sensations.
Fans have patiently waited for more details in the months since. Finally, Peele came through Thursday (22 July) by revealing the title and cast of his new film, and sharing a first-look poster on Twitter.
The poster depicts an ominous looking cloud with a colourful kite string trailing out the back of it. The cloud is looming above a brightly lit town amidst an eerie blue sky.
The post was accompanied by a lone cloud emoji.

Does this mean the movie will focus on a sentient, killer cloud? No one knows, because the film’s plot has not been made public. It’s undoubtedly Peele keeping true to his history of remaining mysterious and building excitement for his work.
While there aren’t many details about the film, Jordan Peele did cast an amazing list of actors
Keke Palmer, who starred in Scream Queens and the upcoming The Proud Family remake, is taking an undisclosed leading role in Nope. She will be joined by queer actor Barbie Ferreira, who played the fan fiction-writing Kat Hernandez in HBO’s Euphoria.
Jordan Peele will also be reteaming with Daniel Kaluuya, who starred in Get Out. Kaluuya won an Oscar earlier this year for his supporting role in Judas and the Black Messiah.
Minari and The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun and The OA‘s Brandon Perea will round out the already star-studded cast.
Peele has remained busy since the debut of Us in 2019. Since then, he’s served as an executive producer on HBO’s Lovecraft Country and produced the upcoming reboot of Candyman.
Nope is scheduled to be released in theatres on 22 July 2022 – exactly a year from the day Jordan Peele posted the tweet.
