Gay lawmaker mocks Republican colleague for proposing senate calls Trump ‘daddy’

Gay Senator Jeremy Moss effortlessly took down his Republican counterpart Jonathan Lindsey, after the latter suggested the Michigan senate called President Trump ‘Daddy’.

A recent Michigan state senate session took a turn for the weird when Republican Senator Jonathan Lindsey told the assembled participants that we should all be calling president Trump our ‘daddy’.

Lindsey made the comments in reference to NATO chief Mark Rutte last week (25 June) calling the Republican president ‘daddy’ as an analogy which painted Trump as the father of two arguing children – there, Israel and Iran.

In the session (27 June), Michigan Senator Lindsey said: “A lot of people in America have come to think of President Trump as a sort of father figure, and indeed, this morning, we even saw the leadership of NATO refer to him as ‘Daddy,’ so maybe in these resolutions going forward, we can have a little bit of recognition of ‘Daddy Trump’.

We know, we were just a bit sick in our mouth too.

@pinknews During a recent Michigan state senate session, Republican Senator Jonathan Lindsey attempted to troll his Democratic colleagues by suggesting they refer to President Trump as “Daddy Trump” in future resolutions, drawing on NATO Chief Mark Rutte’s recent comparison of Trump to a paternal figure who intervenes when countries fight. Lindsey’s suggestion was meant to mock Democrats’ opposition to the president while embracing the father-figure characterization that Trump himself had enthusiastically adopted. However, Democratic Senator Jeremy Moss, who is gay and serves as the Senate’s speaker pro tem, quickly deflated Lindsey’s trolling attempt with a perfectly timed response: “You don’t want to know what daddy means in my community.” The quip, which referenced the term’s different connotations in LGBTQ+ culture, sent the chamber into eruptions of laughter and effectively shut down Lindsey’s suggestion. Moss later shared the moment on social media, celebrating it as a bit of “queer sass” during Pride Month. #republicans #pridemonth #donaldtrump #daddy #uspolitics #lgbtqia ♬ original sound – PinkNews 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Luckily, the proposal was quickly shot down by out gay Democrat Jeremy Moss, with the Michigan senate member quipping: “You don’t want to know what ‘Daddy’ means in my community.”

Moss’s retort was met with laughter from the assembly in the State capital of Lansing.

For anyone still confused, ‘Daddy’ often means something very different in the LGBTQ+ community particularly among gay men; the term is used to describe older, handsome, muscular men that one can imagine being both protective and dominant, rather than one’s actual father. Think Pedro Pascal-vibes.

Moss then shared the clip on X, writing, “Happy Pride Month!”

In the NATO summit at The Hague, Rutte called Trump ‘Daddy’ in the sentence: “And then daddy sometimes has to use strong language and stop them.”

Trump – obviously – loved it, telling Reuters, “He likes me, I think he likes me; if he doesn’t, I’ll let you know. He did it very affectionately. Daddy, you’re my daddy.”

Not sure that it needs to be spelt out, but Trump is not and never will be our daddy.
