With the start of Lesbian Visibility Week coinciding with Easter Monday (21 April) we asked some sapphics to name their Lesbian Jesus.
For much of the later 2010s, the term was often attributed to “Girls Like Girls” singer Hayley Kiyoko. But according to the Urban Dictionary, a lesbian Jesus is: “An ethereal being. If you find a hot gay being, there is a chance that they are lesbian Jesus. They lord over and watch over gays. You will know you have met lesbian Jesus if they bless your f**king soul by saying: ‘Gay gay homosexual gay’. However, not all gays are lesbian Jesus.”
Speaking to lesbians at a Dykonic Times in London last week, PinkNews discovered opinions were varied.
Comedian Ella Wills said: “It’s me, I’m lesbian Jesus.” However, if she had to pick someone else, it would be singer-songwriter Kehlani because “she’s like actual Jesus to me… she’s God to me.”
I Kissed A Girl‘s Fiorenza said her choices changed but right now it was pop star Chappell Roan.
Fellow cast members Abbie and Lisha, who met on the show, had different answers. The former nominated Gossip Girl star Blake Lively “through and through” while her partner opted for Alex in Orange is the New Black, played by Laura Prepon.
“Masculine energy,” Lisha proclaimed. Abbie agreed, declaring: “Yeah, big d**k energy.”
Other responses included Mean Girls star Reneé Rapp, singer Catty, who opened for Stevie Nicks in Hyde Park last year, and the always-popular k.d. lang.
