As Basel in Switzerland prepares to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, the two semi-final line-ups have been decided.
The running orders for each semi-final were unveiled in March with organisers giving the more superstitious Eurovision fans a chance to speculate about who had unfortunately been given ‘the death slot’.
The first of the live semi-finals will take place on Tuesday 13 May. Competing first will be Iceland’s VÆB with their song ‘RÓA’
Following them will be Justyna Steczkowska with ‘GAJA’ for Poland. Performing third is Slovenia’s Klemen with ‘How Much Time Do We Have Left’.
According to Eurovision fans and Reddit forums, the second and third slots have long been seen as ‘the death slots,’ meaning this would mean that Poland and Slovenia won’t make it to the final. That’s if you believe in that sort of thing…
Estonia will go fourth and then Spain followed by Ukraine.
In the second semi-final, set to take place on Thursday 15 May, well be watching ‘Milkshake Men’ by Australia’s Go-Jo.
That will then be followed by Montenegro’s Nina Žižić with ‘Dobrodošli,’ and then Ireland’s EMMY with ‘Laika Party’.
As always, the ‘Big Five’ countries – the UK, Spain, France, Italy, and Germany – as well as the hosts, Switzerland, automatically qualify for twelve final taking place on Saturday 17 May.
It was announced in January that Hazel Brugger, Michelle Hunziker, and Sandra Studer – who are all well-known and popular celebrities in Switzerland – will all be presenting this year’s event.
