Barbra ‘Babs’ Siperstein Groundbreaking leader for gender equality, 76

Barbra “Babs” Siperstein, 76, of Edison, N.J., passed away on Feb. 3, 2019, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. 
The family will receive mourners Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, N.J. 08863, from 11 a.m., until 12 noon. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, N.J. She was born on Nov. 20, 1942, in Jersey City, N.J. She resided in Jersey City before moving to Edison, N.J., 40 years ago. 
Barbra was the president/ owner of Siperstein’s Paint store in Fords, N.J. She received her BA from Rutgers University and a MBA in public accounting from Pace University. Barbra was a member of Temple Beth Mordecai and the president of the Regional Conservative Hebrew School of Northern Middlesex County. After many years of dedication, in 2018 she received multiple awards culminating in the passage of the “Babs” Siperstein Law. 
Barbra is survived by her partner, Dorothy Crouch of New York City; her daughter, Jana Siperstein-Szucs and her husband, David, of Woodbridge, N.J.; two sons, Jeffrey Siperstein and his wife, Lisa, of Lakeworth, Fla., and Jared Siperstein of Scotch Plains, N.J.; five grandchildren, Matthew, Kayla, Jude, Alexander and Sebastian; a sister, Sherry Grosky, of Bridgewater, N.J.; two nieces, Arianne Grosky and Mara Maguire and her husband, J.J.; a grandniece, Rachel, and a grandnephew, Joseph.
Donations in her name may be made to the Barbra Siperstein Endowed Scholarship at Middlesex County College.
