The first trailer for Lena Dunham’s new series, Too Much, along with the news that Andrew Scott, Jessica Alba, and Jennifer Saunders will also be appearing in the upcoming Netflix comedy.
Too Much will be fronted by Megan Stalter as Jessica. The series will also star Will Sharpe, Michael Zegan, Richard E. Grant, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Kit Harington, Rita Ora, Andrew Rannells, Stephen Fry, and more.
The trailer sees Jessica reeling from a break-up being advised to shake things up and move to London. But her dreams of an idyllic and romantic movie-esque adventure are quickly dashed as she finds herself in a cramped flat with arguing neighbours all around. “I’m in hell,” she moans.
However, romance appears to be on the cards in the form of Felix (The White Lotus‘ Will Sharpe). “I came here to find myself,” Jessica tells someone as she tries to move on from her ex-boyfriend.
The rest of the trailer shows off some of the talent involved, including Ora, Saunders, and of course, All of Us Strangers star Scott.
A synopsis for the series reads: “Jessica (Megan Stalter) is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows.
“When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister.
“But when she meets Felix (Will Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language?
“From the creator of Girls and the producers of Love Actually, Too Much is an ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is.”
The series, written and directed by Girls’ Lena Dunham, is set to be released on Netflix on 10 July.
